Sushi Ishikawa
There are quite a few good options for high end omakase sushi on the Upper East Side. If you’re not yet familiar with omakase, it’s an expensive experience worth saving up for - each course is a surprise and an explosion of flavor. Sushi Ishikawa is one of the best options when you’re looking for creative, non-traditional sushi.
They used to have very limited seating, but now they have a cool greenhouse-style shed on the sidewalk for COVID that’s more than doubled their capacity. While not the same experience as sitting at the sushi bar watching the chef, your mind will still be blown with every bite.
You can order either 12 or 15 pieces of sushi, all curated by the chef. High end Omakase in NYC is always expensive, and Ishikawa is no exception to that rule. Even without drinks, you’re still going to spend over $100/person, so make sure you’re ready to splurge! You’ll be comforted when you discover how much value you’re getting for that money by way of some extremely fresh fish surrounded by a fascinating, incredible combination of flavors. From uni to truffle to caviar and beyond, you get the best of the best ingredients, and if you have any dietary restrictions, the staff is always happy to accommodate them. Oh, and the sushi rice is always the perfect temperature. I’ll stop here so that I don’t spoil anything further, but hopefully those photos above gave you a good taste of what Sushi Ishikawa is all about.
